Common Domain Name Rules (Anchor: common)

  • TheNames.com provides 2nd Level Domain Registration, under .XXX.

  • Domain Theft Protection feature is supported for .XXX domain names.

  • For Resellers: Both Lock and Suspension features are supported for .XXX domain names.

    Bulk Lock / Unlock and Bulk Suspend / Unsuspend features are also supported for .XXX domain names.

  • Move (push) feature is supported for .XXX domain names.

  • If for any reason you need to Delete your domain name, contact our Support Team at http://kb.thenames.com/.

  • Upon deletion, the .XXX domain name enters Redemption Grace Period.

    What is Redemption Grace Period?

  • Upon Registering or Transferring-In your .XXX domain name, the system will submit the Registrant's full name and email address as recorded in the Contact database to the .XXX Registry, so that the Registry may contact the Registrant to self-certify (Anchor: certify) as a Member of the adult-community.     • If the Registrant does not receive this email within 6 hours, on the email address visible in the system's Contact database, s/he may request the Registry to resend this email. See details

    • If the Registrant submitted an incorrect email address or changes the email address since Registering or Transferring-In the domain name, contact our Support Team at http://kb.thenames.com/ to assist you in submitting the changed email address to the .XXX Registry.

    Note

    It is not mandatory to self-certify as a Member of the adult-community with the .XXX Registry. However, if you do not complete this validation, .XXX Registry would not allow your domain name to resolve.

    Upon becoming a Member of the .XXX Adult Community, you will be provided a Membership Token/ID by the .XXX Registry. You need to submit this within your Control Panel to enable resolution of your .XXX domain name. Follow this process to either associate/disassociate (Anchor: assoc) a Membership Token/ID with your domain name:

    1. Login to your Control Panel. See details

    2. Search for the domain name and proceed to the Order Information view. See details

    3. Under Domain Registration, click the Membership Details link.

    4. Besides Membership ID mention the Membership Token/ID provided by the .XXX Registry, to associate it to your domain name.

      To disassociate a domain name with a Membership Token/ID, simply remove all details from this field.

    5. Click the Update Membership Token button to submit your details.

Domain Name Registration (Anchor: reg)

  • A .XXX domain name may be Registered for 1 to 10 years.

  • A .XXX domain name has a 4 day Money Back Grace Period.

  • The Bulk Registration feature is available for .XXX domain names.

  • Upon Registering a .XXX domain name, you may not Transfer-Away from TheNames.com, until 60 days.

  • .XXX domain names do not support Internationalized Domain Names (IDN).

Domain Name Renewal (Anchor: ren)

  • A .XXX domain name may be Renewed for 1 to 10 years.

  • Upon Expiry of a .XXX domain name:

    • any service such as email, website, etc., configured for this domain name would stop functioning, until the domain name is Renewed.

    • if the .XXX domain name is not Renewed until 40 days, the domain name would get Deleted and would slip into Redemption Grace Period.

Domain Name Transfer (Anchor: trf)

  • Upon Transferring a .XXX domain name, the domain name gets renewed by 1 year.

  • .XXX domain names have a 60-Day Transfer Lock placed on them, after they are Transferred.

  • All .XXX domain names have a Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code.

    The length of a Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code may vary between 6 to 16 characters.

  • Upon placing a Transfer request for your .XXX domain name with TheNames.com, we would validate your Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code with the .XXX Registry. Once confirmed, we will email the Registrant Contact listed in the Whois of the domain name. The Registrant Contact must click the approval link to confirm the Transfer. If the approval link is not clicked within 5 days, the domain name will continue being registered with the current Registrar.

  • The Bulk Transfer feature is available for .XXX domain names.

Contact Details related Rules (Anchor: contact)

  • .XXX domain names are available for registration to any individual.

  • .XXX domain names use the General Contact database in the system.

    .XXX domain names use the following 4 Contacts itself:

    • Registrant Contact

    • Administrative Contact

    • Technical Contact

    • Billing Contact

  • .XXX Contacts do not support accented characters.

  • .XXX domain names support TheNames.com's Privacy Protection feature.

Note (Anchor: move)
  • If you are Moving your .XXX domain name to another person/organization, then you may consider disassociating your Membership Token/ID from the domain name, prior to the Move.

  • If Moving your .XXX domain name causes the Registrant email address to change and if you have not yet completed your Membership validation, then the new Registrant's will receive an email from the .XXX Registry, to self-certify as a Member of the adult-community.

Name Servers and Child Name Servers related Rules (Anchor: ns)

  • Each .XXX domain name needs to have at least 2 Name Servers and may have upto 13 Name Servers.

  • There is no limitation on the number of Child Name Servers you may create.

  • You may associate upto 13 IP Address per Child Name Server.

  • You may associate IPv6 Address in Child Name Servers.

  • You may modify both Name Servers as well as any Child Name Servers associated with your .XXX domain name.
